Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Scholarship Program

AFP's Diversity, Equity and Inclusion scholarship program was created to support companies hiring new employees for their treasury and FP&A functions as part of a DE&I initiative. The program provides companies with up to 10 scholarships to the Certified Treasury Professional (CTP) or Certified Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (FPAC) programs.

Who can apply?

The scholarship program is administered through a letter of agreement between an organization and AFP. Organizations can then grant up to ten scholarships to employees within their company. To be eligible, candidates must be newly hired in to the treasury or FP&A departments as part of the organization's DE&I initiative. Candidates can be newly hired from outside of the organization or from within the organization to the treasury, finance or FP&A departments.

Candidates must be new to the corporate treasury, finance & FP&A profession, thereby increasing diversity within the profession. Candidates will be considered new to the profession if hired no more than 30 days prior to submitting their application.

Candidates do not need to meet the experience eligibility requirement at the time of application. However, all eligibility requirements must be met before the credential will be awarded.

Only corporate practitioner organizations are eligible to participate in this program.

What is included?

A participating organization may offer up to 10 scholarships to employees newly hired as part of a DE&I initiative. The scholarship will provide the candidate with a new applicant registration and the Exam Prep Platform for either the CTP or FPAC program.

What is not included?

Any additional fees once accepted in to the program are the responsibility of the candidate. Additional fees may include re-registration or no-show fees.

Neither a printed copy of the Essentials of Treasury Management nor AFP membership is included with the scholarship.

How does it work?

Companies interested in participating in the DE&I Scholarship Program should contact Denise Riggs at [email protected].

Once a letter of agreement has been signed, the participating company can register up to 10 participants. In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the candidate must have no previous treasury, finance or FP&A experience and must have been hired within the past 30 days in to the treasury, finance or FP&A department as part of a DE&I initiative.

Candidates will be required to fill out an application to the certification program they have chosen. Candidates will not be required to meet the experience eligibility requirement at the time of their application. Once approved, candidates will be provided with access to the Exam Prep Platform and registration in the testing window they chose when they applied.

Once their application has been accepted, candidates will have three years (CTP) or five years (FPAC) to complete all requirements and earn the credential.

The CTP program requires that candidates have two years of relevant experience and pass one exam.

The FPAC program requires that candidates have a bachelors degree in finance (or a bachelors degree in any subject with supplemental finance related education), three years of experience and pass two exams. FPAC candidates with a Masters level degree in finance, accounting, business or economics are only required to have two years of relevant experience.

Once their applications have been accepted, candidates will be expected to comply with all rules and regulations for the program. Candidates will required to pay any additional fees they may incur, such as no-show or re-registration fees.
